Home Visiting Family Support

Personal Visits: Personal visits (monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly) are the major service delivery component.  During these visits, home visitors share age-appropriate child development information with parents; help them learn to observe their own child, address their parenting concerns, and engage the family in activities that provide meaningful parent-child interaction. 
 

Group Meetings: Parent group meetings provide opportunities to share information about parenting issues and child development.   Parents learn and support each other, observe their children with other children, and practice parenting skills.   

Head Start & Early Head Start

Sierra Cascade Family Opportunities (SCFO) is a private, non-profit early childhood development organization that operates Head Start, Early Head Start, and State Preschool services for children and families in Lassen, Plumas, and Modoc counties. SCFO’s programs include free, high-quality, center-based preschool and home visiting services for children ages 0-4 and pregnant mothers.

Services For Children With Disabilities 

The Lassen County Office of Education Infant/Toddler Program provides services to eligible children from birth through 36 months of age who have significant delays in one or more areas of development.  We provide free educational opportunities in your home and community. The family is the most important influence in the growth and development of a child.  We partner with you and your family to build on strengths, work on challenges, and create a plan for assisting with your child’s development.

Children's Oral Health

Bright Smiles is the Lassen County Oral Health Program and provides services for anyone ages 0-20 and pregnant or breastfeeding mothers. We provide oral screenings and fluoride varnish applications. It is our goal to be able to provide our services throughout Lassen County.
