First 5 Lassen

About Our Partners At First 5 Lassen

First Five Lassen began as a result of the passage of Prop 10 tobacco tax back in 1998 which allocates funds to all 58 counties in California. In 2000, Lassen County approved the creation of Lassen County Children and Families Commission which is now known as First 5 Lassen. This Commission is made up of local members of Lassen County who develop strategies to help children 0-5 and their families to thrive. To accomplish this, the commission seeks to improve: child development, family functioning, child health and systems of care. Over the past 22 years, the commission has been funding home visiting services to help children and their families. First 5 Lassen has been funding Pathways to Child and Family Excellence to help families within our county. Other investments have been made to help preschools and oral health. Below you will see our Vision and Mission statements.

Vision Statement
All Lassen County children will thrive in supportive, nurturing, and loving environments; enter school healthy and ready to learn; and become productive, well-adjusted members of society.

Mission Statement
The Lassen County Children and Families Commission is designed to support and encourage, on a countywide basis, a comprehensive, integrated, coordinated system of early childhood development services.  The focus of the Commission is on quality health care, family strengthening, and early childhood education. The Commission will support prevention and intervention programs for children, prenatal through five years of age, and their families.
