Lassen County Independent Living Skills Program

Information:

Authorized by the Foster Care Independence Act of 1999 (Public Law 106-169). The ILP provides training, services, and benefits to assist current and former foster youth in achieving self sufficiency prior to, and after leaving, the foster care system. The main goal of the Independent Living Program is to assist youth to become educated and to help prepare youth to make the transition to adulthood and towards self-sufficiency. Additionally, they receive ongoing emotional support as needed. When ILP youth age-out of the program, they leave with a renewed sense of independence and knowledge to lead a productive life as part of their community. Some ILP classes include: Daily Living Skills, Money Management, Decision Making, Building Self-Esteem, Employment, and Healthy Relationships.
